Disease Name:glioblastomaGlioblastoma
Category:Disease OntologyMeSH
Type:Neoplasms
Define:A malignant astrocytoma characterized by the presence of small areas of necrotizing tissue that is surrounded by anaplastic cells as well as the presence of hyperplastic blood vessels, and that has_material_basis_in abnormally proliferating cells derives_from multiple cell types including astrocytes and oligondroctyes.A malignant form of astrocytoma histologically characterized by pleomorphism of cells, nuclear atypia, microhemorrhage, and necrosis. They may arise in any region of the central nervous system, with a predilection for the cerebral hemispheres, basal ganglia, and commissural pathways. Clinical presentation most frequently occurs in the fifth or sixth decade of life with focal neurologic signs or seizures.

[1] PubMed ID:31905344
Disease Name:Glioblastoma
Sample:glioblastoma tissues and cell lines
Dysfunction Pattern:interaction[EPB41L5,miR-19a]
Validated Method:qRT-PCR//Luciferase Report Assay//RNA Pull-Down
Description:Circ-EPB41L5 was downregulated in glioblastoma tissues and cell lines compared to the normal brain tissues and cell lines. The current study highlights a novel suppressive function of circ-EPB41L5 and reveals that circ-EPB41L5/miR-19a/EPB41L5/p-AKT regulatory axis plays a striking role in the progression of glioblastoma, which provides a novel insight into the mechanisms underlying glioblastoma.
Causality:Yes
Causal Description: Low circ-EPB41L5 expression was correlated to the poor prognosis of glioblastoma patients, while the overexpression inhibited proliferation, clone formation, migration, and invasion abilities of glioma cells, and the suppression had counter effects.
Clinical-realted Application: Low circ-EPB41L5 expression was correlated to the poor prognosis of glioblastoma patients, while the overexpression inhibited proliferation, clone formation, migration, and invasion abilities of glioma cells, and the suppression had counter effects.
