Disease Information

 Disease OntologyMeSH
Disease ID:D000077273
Disease Name:Thyroid Cancer, Papillary
Category:MeSH
Type:Neoplasms
Define:An ADENOCARCINOMA that originates from follicular cells of the THYROID GLAND and accounts for the majority of THYROID CANCER cases. Cells exhibit enlarged, oval, or elongated morphologies with clear, round, nuclei. Fusions of RET, NTRK1, TPM3, and PCM1 genes are associated with this cancer.

Reference

[1] PubMed ID:34289835
Disease Name:Thyroid Cancer, Papillary
Sample:PTC tissues
Dysfunction Pattern:Interaction( miR-612/ Cadherin 4 axis)
Validated Method:In Vivo Experiment//RNA Pull-Down//Western Blot//Bioinformatics Analysis//Transfection//Migration Assay//Flow Cytometry//qRT-PCR//FISH//RIP//Luciferase Report Assay//Cell Proliferation Assay//IHC//Invasion Assay
Description:Upregulated expression of FER1L4 in PTC tissues was positively correlated with lymph node metastasis (P = 0.020), extrathyroidal extension (P = 0.013) and advanced TNM stages (P = 0.013). Mechanistically, FER1L4 could competitively bind with miR-612 to prevent the degradation of its target gene CDH4. This condition was further confirmed in the rescue assays.
Causality:Yes
Causal Description:In addition, knockdown of FER1L4 suppressed PTC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, whereas ectopic expression of FER1L4 inversely promoted these processes.
Clinical-realted Application:Upregulated expression of FER1L4 in PTC tissues was positively correlated with lymph node metastasis (P = 0.020), extrathyroidal extension (P = 0.013) and advanced TNM stages (P = 0.013).
