Disease Name:glioblastomaGlioblastoma
Category:Disease OntologyMeSH
Type:Neoplasms
Define:A malignant astrocytoma characterized by the presence of small areas of necrotizing tissue that is surrounded by anaplastic cells as well as the presence of hyperplastic blood vessels, and that has_material_basis_in abnormally proliferating cells derives_from multiple cell types including astrocytes and oligondroctyes.A malignant form of astrocytoma histologically characterized by pleomorphism of cells, nuclear atypia, microhemorrhage, and necrosis. They may arise in any region of the central nervous system, with a predilection for the cerebral hemispheres, basal ganglia, and commissural pathways. Clinical presentation most frequently occurs in the fifth or sixth decade of life with focal neurologic signs or seizures.

Reference

[1] PubMed ID:34530115
Disease Name:Glioblastoma
Sample:GBM cells
Dysfunction Pattern:Interaction(miR-363-3p/ NOB1)
Validated Method:RNA Pull-Down//Western Blot//Tunel//Flow Cytometry//qRT-PCR//RIP//FISH//Luciferase Report Assay//Colony Formation Assay//EdU Staining//Transwell Assay
Description: FEZF1-AS1 possessed high expression in GBM cells. With the help of bioinformatics prediction and mechanism assays, FEZF1-AS1 was found to bind to miR-363-3p and NOB1 was determined to be the downstream gene. Finally, results of rescue assays verified that the suppressive function of FEZF1-AS1 inhibition on GBM development were restored by miR-363-3p depletion or overexpression of NOB1.
Causality:Yes
Causal Description:Down-regulation of FEZF1-AS1 suppressed GBM cell proliferation, migration and invasion while inducing cell apoptosis.
Clinical-realted Application:

[2] PubMed ID:32210625
Disease Name:Glioblastoma
Sample:GBM tissues
Dysfunction Pattern:regulation[Sponges miR-34a,Upregulate Notch-1]
Validated Method:qRT-PCR//Transwell Assay
Description: In this study, analysis of TCGA dataset revealed the upregulation of FEZF1-AS1 in GBM, and the overexpression of FEZF1-AS1 in GBM was further confirmed using GBM tissues from GBM patients included in this study. FEZF1-AS1 may sponge miR-34a to upregulate Notch-1 in GBM, thereby promoting cancer cell invasion and migration.
Causality:No
Causal Description:
Clinical-realted Application:High levels of FEZF1-AS1 were correlated with poor survival.
