Disease Information

 Disease OntologyMeSH
Disease ID:DOID:9261C538339
Disease Name:nasopharynx carcinomaNasopharyngeal carcinoma
Category:Disease OntologyMeSH
Type:Neoplasms
Define:A pharynx cancer that is located in the nasopharynx, the uppermost region of the pharynx or throat, where the nasal passages and auditory tubes join the remainder of the upper respiratory tract.A carcinoma that originates in the nasopharyngeal EPITHELIUM and includes 4 subtypes: keratinizing squamous cell, nonkeratinizing, basaloid squamous cell, and PAPILLARY ADENOCARCINOMA. It is most prevalent in Southeast Asian populations and is associated with EPSTEIN-BARR VIRUS INFECTIONS. Somatic mutations have been identified in NPCR, BAP1, UBAP1, ERBB2, ERBB3, MLL2, PIK3CA, KRAS, NRAS, and ARID1A genes. OMIM: 607107
Alias:Nasopharyngeal carcinoma//malignant Nasopharyngeal tumor//malignant neoplasm of nasopharynx//nasopharynx cancer

[1] PubMed ID:36183926
Disease Name:Nasopharyngeal carcinoma
Sample:serum exosomes
Dysfunction Pattern:Regulation( p-AKT/p-VEGFR2 pathway )
Validated Method:Western Blot//Transfection//Wound Healing Assay//Migration Assay//CCK8//qRT-PCR//EdU Staining//Transwell Assay
Description:This study demonstrates that linc-ROR is substantially expressed in serum exosomes from NPC and can be taken up by HUVECs. Thus, the p-AKT/p-VEGFR2 pathway is the mechanism by which linc-ROR affects the aforementioned biological activities. By stimulating angiogenesis, linc-ROR appears to play a significant role in the course of NPC and could account for a therapeutic target.
Causality:Yes
Causal Description: Using qRT-PCR, the CCK8 test, the transwell migration assay, the wound healing assay, and the tube formation assay, we demonstrated that linc-ROR increases proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis in vitro. Similar to prior research, our results have shown that linc-ROR can stimulate tumor angiogenesis in the zebrafish model.

[2] PubMed ID:36107245
Disease Name:Nasopharyngeal carcinoma
Sample:NPC patients
Dysfunction Pattern:Expression(lower expressed)
Validated Method:qPCR
Description: The median of TEP lncRNA ROR was significantly lower in NPC patients than that in normal subjects (0.0209 vs 0.0610, p = 0.0019), while no significant difference was found in plasma lncRNA ROR.
