The majority of pituitary neoplasms are adenomas, which are divided into non-secreting and secreting forms. Hormone producing forms are further classified by the type of hormone they secrete. Pituitary adenomas may also be characterized by their staining properties (see ADENOMA, BASOPHIL; ADENOMA, ACIDOPHIL; and ADENOMA, CHROMOPHOBE). Pituitary tumors may compress adjacent structures, including the HYPOTHALAMUS, several CRANIAL NERVES, and the OPTIC CHIASM. Chiasmal compression may result in bitemporal HEMIANOPSIA.

Description: In this study, we discovered that long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1004 (LINC01004) was aberrantly up-regulated in PA cells. By using bioinformatics tools and a series of mechanism assays, LINC01004 was identified to sponge miR-323a-3p/miR-136-5p to enhance the expression of RCN2 in PA.
