Disease Information

 Disease OntologyMeSH
Disease ID:D005910
Disease Name:Glioma
Category:MeSH
Type:Neoplasms
Define:Benign and malignant central nervous system neoplasms derived from glial cells (i.e., astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, and ependymocytes). Astrocytes may give rise to astrocytomas (ASTROCYTOMA) or glioblastoma multiforme (see GLIOBLASTOMA). Oligodendrocytes give rise to oligodendrogliomas (OLIGODENDROGLIOMA) and ependymocytes may undergo transformation to become EPENDYMOMA; CHOROID PLEXUS NEOPLASMS; or colloid cysts of the third ventricle. Reference

[1] PubMed ID:30661904
Disease Name:Glioma
Sample:glioma tissues and cell lines
Dysfunction Pattern:Regulation[Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway]
Validated Method:Western Blot//qPCR//CCK8//Flow Cytometry//Luciferase Report Assay//Colony Formation Assay
Description:We found that CASC7 was downregulated in glioma tissues and cell liens and predicted poor prognosis for patients with glioma. Taken together, all research findings suggested that CASC7 inhibited the progression of glioma via regulating Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.
Causality:Yes
Causal Description: To determine the involvement of CASC7 in the biological processes of glioma, we conducted gain or loss-of function assays in two glioma patients. We found that CASC7 suppressed glioma cell proliferation and induced glioma cell apoptosis.
Clinical-realted Application:We found that CASC7 was downregulated in glioma tissues and cell liens and predicted poor prognosis for patients with glioma.
