Disease Name:glioblastomaGlioblastoma
Category:Disease OntologyMeSH
Type:Neoplasms
Define:A malignant astrocytoma characterized by the presence of small areas of necrotizing tissue that is surrounded by anaplastic cells as well as the presence of hyperplastic blood vessels, and that has_material_basis_in abnormally proliferating cells derives_from multiple cell types including astrocytes and oligondroctyes.A malignant form of astrocytoma histologically characterized by pleomorphism of cells, nuclear atypia, microhemorrhage, and necrosis. They may arise in any region of the central nervous system, with a predilection for the cerebral hemispheres, basal ganglia, and commissural pathways. Clinical presentation most frequently occurs in the fifth or sixth decade of life with focal neurologic signs or seizures.

[1] PubMed ID:34553034
Disease Name:Glioblastoma
Sample:glioblastoma cell lines and tissues
Dysfunction Pattern:Interaction(miR-361-3p/miR-324-5p/ BCL2)
Validated Method:colony Formation Assay//RNA Pull-Down//Western Blot//Transfection//qPCR//RIP//Cell Apoptosis Assay//PCR//IP//Colony Formation Assay//IF
Description:In our study, we identified a novel upregulated circRNA, circSERPINE2, through analyzing circRNAs microarray data of glioblastoma from GEO datasets (GSE146463).Mechanistically, circSERPINE2 could directly sponge miR-324-5p and miR-361-3p. BCL2, known as a novel anti-apoptosis gene, is a target gene both of miR-324-5p and miR-361-3p.
Causality:Yes
Causal Description:Silencing circSERPINE2 inhibits glioblastoma proliferation in vivo and in vitro through cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay, colony formation assay, flow cytometry analysis, and western blot analysis and xenograft tumor model.
