Disease Information

 Disease OntologyMeSH
Disease ID:DOID:684D006528
Disease Name:hepatocellular carcinomaCarcinoma, Hepatocellular
Category:Disease OntologyMeSH
Type:Neoplasms
Define:A liver carcinoma that has_material_basis_in undifferentiated hepatocytes and located_in the liver.A primary malignant neoplasm of epithelial liver cells. It ranges from a well-differentiated tumor with EPITHELIAL CELLS indistinguishable from normal HEPATOCYTES to a poorly differentiated neoplasm. The cells may be uniform or markedly pleomorphic, or form GIANT CELLS. Several classification schemes have been suggested.

Reference

[1] PubMed ID:32860321
Disease Name:Carcinoma, Hepatocellular
Sample:HCC tissues and cells
Dysfunction Pattern:regulation[PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway]
Validated Method:IHC//Western Blot//Flow Cytometry//qRT-PCR//RIP//Luciferase Report Assay//Colony Formation Assay//EdU Staining
Description: In the present study, we found that PICSAR was upregulated in HCC tissues and cells and correlated with progression and poor prognosis in HCC patients.PICSAR played an oncogenic role by targeting miR-588 and subsequently promoted EIF6 expression and PI3K/AKT/mTOR activation in HCC.
Causality:Yes
Causal Description:Gain- and loss-of-function experiments indicated that PICSAR enhanced cell proliferation, colony formation, and cell cycle progression and inhibited apoptosis of HCC cells.
Clinical-realted Application: In the present study, we found that PICSAR was upregulated in HCC tissues and cells and correlated with progression and poor prognosis in HCC patients.
