Disease ID:DOID:255D006391
Disease Name:hemangiomaHemangioma
Category:Disease OntologyMeSH
Type:Neoplasms
Define:A cardiovascular organ benign neoplasm that has_material_basis_in endothelial cells that line blood vessels and is characterised by increased number of normal or abnormal vessels filled with blood.A vascular anomaly due to proliferation of BLOOD VESSELS that forms a tumor-like mass. The common types involve CAPILLARIES and VEINS. It can occur anywhere in the body but is most frequently noticed in the SKIN and SUBCUTANEOUS TISSUE. (from Stedman, 27th ed, 2000)

[1] PubMed ID:30562741
Disease Name:Hemangioma
Sample:involuting phase HAs and normal skin tissues
Dysfunction Pattern:Regulation[miR-494 and regulating PTEN/PI3K/AKT pathway]
Validated Method:Western Blot//Flow Cytometry//qRT-PCR//RIP//MTT//Luciferase Report Assay//Colony Formation Assay
Description: The expression of MEG3 was substantially decreased and had a negative correlation with VEGF expression in proliferating phase HAs, as compared with the involuting phase HAs and normal skin tissues. Our findings suggested that lncRNA MEG3 inhibited HAs tumorigenesis by sponging miR-494 and regulating PTEN/PI3K/AKT pathway.
Causality:Yes
Causal Description:Ectopic expression of MEG3 suppressed cell proliferation, colony formation and induced cycle arrest in vitro and in vivo, followed by the downregulation of VEGF and cyclinD1, but knockdown of MEG3 reversed these effects.
