Disease Information

 Disease OntologyMeSH
Disease ID:DOID:5075D004806
Disease Name:myxopapillary ependymomaEpendymoma
Category:Disease OntologyMeSH
Type:Neoplasms
Define:Glioma derived from EPENDYMOGLIAL CELLS that tend to present as malignant intracranial tumors in children and as benign intraspinal neoplasms in adults. It may arise from any level of the ventricular system or central canal of the spinal cord. Intracranial ependymomas most frequently originate in the FOURTH VENTRICLE and histologically are densely cellular tumors which may contain ependymal tubules and perivascular pseudorosettes. Spinal ependymomas are usually benign papillary or myxopapillary tumors. Reference

[1] PubMed ID:31489574
Disease Name:Ependymoma
Sample:ependymomas tissues
Dysfunction Pattern:Expression[highly expressed]
Validated Method:qPCR//IHC
Description:Upregulation of gene expression levels of TRERNA1 was seen in intracranial EPNs, with highest expression levels in pediatric posterior fossa EPNs.
Causality:No
Causal Description:
Clinical-realted Application:High TRERNA1 expression was found associated with higher proliferative indices (p = 0.034) and shorter progression free survival (p = 0.002).
